Foundation
The People Empowerment Life Project Foundation (P.E.L.P Foundation) was founded in 2003 by Mustapha Jaiteh in The Gambia. Born into a devout Muslim family with deep roots in valuing education and righteous living, Mustapha grew up witnessing the stark realities faced by many in his community—especially children without access to education, orphans with no one to care for them, and families struggling with hunger and poverty.

From a young age, Mustapha’s heart was moved by the suffering around him. He saw children his own age who were unable to attend school because their families could not afford basic necessities. He spoke with widows, the poor, and the forgotten—always listening, always trying to help however he could.

These early experiences ignited a vision in him: to create a foundation that would serve not just his village, but communities throughout The Gambia and beyond. This vision became the People Empowerment Life Project Foundation—a grassroots initiative dedicated to uplifting lives through education, care, and opportunity.

Since its humble beginnings, and by the mercy and will of God, the P.E.L.P Foundation has grown immensely. It has helped thousands of individuals through its education and religious centers, social support programs, and outreach efforts. The work of the foundation has been recognized on national television, and Mustapha Jaiteh has become a well-known figure in humanitarian circles.
Often referred to as a "One Man Army," Mustapha's unwavering dedication, sincerity, and love for his people have set him apart. His journey is a powerful reminder of what one person’s compassion and faith can achieve.

Today, the P.E.L.P Foundation continues to be a beacon of hope, empowering the most vulnerable and ensuring that no child is left behind.
